Walt and Jesse scale up. They need methylamine, a key precursor chemical. Walt engineers a brilliant, dangerous heist: using thermite (made from rust and aluminum powder) to melt a lock on a warehouse holding the chemical drums. The plan works perfectly. Almost too perfectly.
Walt and Jesse meet at a diner. Walt declares, “I’m not going to have my family’s financial future left in the hands of some … meth-head gang-bangers. I do this my way.” Then he says the line that defines Season 1: “I’m in the empire business.”
