The teacher-student relationship is a critical aspect of the educational experience. While a positive relationship can enhance academic achievement and overall well-being, a problematic dynamic can lead to negative outcomes. This study explores the phenomenon of students engaging in behaviors, such as flirting or seeking special treatment, to obtain academic benefits.

Research has shown that teacher-student relationships can significantly impact academic achievement (Hamre & Pianta, 2001; Pianta, 1999). Students who perceive their teachers as supportive and caring tend to exhibit higher levels of motivation and engagement (Deci & Ryan, 2000). Conversely, students who feel that they need to engage in manipulative behaviors to obtain academic benefits may experience decreased motivation and increased stress.
