The movie is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage), a motorcycle stunt rider, makes a deal with Mephistopheles (Sam Elliott), a demon, to save the life of his mentor, Crash Simpson. Blaze's soul becomes bonded to the demon Zarathos, transforming him into the Ghost Rider, a supernatural being with a hellish appearance whose task is to hunt down Zarathos.
